Data lakehouse

A data lakehouse provides storage of unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data, like the data lake. However, the data lakehouse adds core functionality and services that enable the data lakehouse to rival the data warehouse in updating efficiency and in query speed. The data lakehouse, however, works across the full range of data types, not only structured data. And the data lakehouse supports all analytics use cases, including support for ML/AI and predictive analytics, due to its ability to natively support all data types.

A data lakehouse can be added to existing infrastructure as an additional data store and analytics resource, or it can be placed at the center of the architecture, replacing both data lakes and data warehouses for many use cases. This simplification can reduce duplication of data, costs, and effort.
